Hey guys, Jason Chao here, most of you have already heard and most of you have not; so I am writing to inform everyone, and remind others, about a recent tragedy suffered by my coworker and friend Wade Batiste. Wade was the victim of a hit and run on Thanksgiving day while he was headed out for a morning jog. The driver lost control of their vehicle and slammed Wade up against a telephone pole, then proceeded to take off down the street and out of site. By good fortune, our other coworker and friend Earl Guy found Wade on the side of the road in disarray while on the way to Batiste's house. Earl rushed Wade to the emergency room where doctors were able to treat and stabilize him.
Wade suffered serious internal bleeding, a concussion, a shattered knee, four broken ribs, a dislocated hip and will have to have a plate put in his face. He has been unable to eat solid foods for a couple of weeks now and was just recently released from his stay in the hospital. This coming Monday he will return to have surgery done on his face and knee. The doctor said that he was lucky to be alive, and had Wade not received immediate medical attention, would have died on site.
Wade was recently hired at my company this past summer and was working hard to turn his life around. He was a pleasure to be on site with every day, and always came to work with a great attitude. I am asking for help today because Wade is uninsured. Being a new-hire employee, he is on a probationary period with our company and has not fulfilled the time needed to receive benefits yet.
Which leads me to this; I am asking all of you to please help a great individual who is trying to better himself but has had a crippling set back. Whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated, and I know Wade would be so very thankful. Please take the time to donate what you can so we can all have a wonderful coworker, and even better friend, back in our lives as soon as possible.
Thank you.
