Hi everyone! For those of you reading this that do not know me, my name is Justin Herbert. I am a student athlete on the Track and Field team at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
The reason I have set up this GoFundMe campaign, is to raise money to get my Grandmother and Grandfather to the Big Sky Conference (BSC) Indoor Track and Field Championships in late February. The money raised will be used for flights from Illinois to Utah and back, lodging for the duration of their stay, as well as transportation once they are here.
While attending high school in Illinois, my grandparents made every effort possible to attend my track meets. After transferring colleges to Utah, I knew that having them get a chance to see me compete before I graduate was just another dream. Over the last couple of years, their health has started it's decline and I figured there is no time better than now. They have constantly posted inspiring messages over Facebook, called when they found out I was in a negative slump in practice or did not compete so well, and even sent me small care packages here and there to boost my spirits from being so far from home.
Last year, I placed second in the Men's Weight Throw behind a very talented thrower. This year, on the other hand, I foresee myself exceeding my goals and everyone else's and placing first. With my current talent level, winning the BSC is my ultimate goal for the indoor season. Having the two individuals who have supported from day 1 of high school track witness me do such a thing, would not only mean the absolute world to me, but also to them.
Being a student athlete, as well as a Resident Assistant (RA) in the residence halls, it is very hard for me to find time to fit a job into my schedule. Therefore making any donation, Facebook share, e-mail, etc. better than nothing at all.
If you have gotten this far, I want to thank you for doing so and I am looking forward to seeing where this takes us!
Any money donated that exceeds the current goal as well as expenses will be donated to a charitable cancer organization called Cancer Kiss My Cooley.
