Xavier Silva, better known by his friends as Xavico, is 42 years old, is a husband and father of 2 children, head and mainstay of his home. About 2 years ago, he received the news that he suffered from Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer. Since that day his life and that of his family had a radical change.

Initially, he received chemotherapy treatments which did not work, and subsequently started a "brentuximab vedotin" vaccine treatment. These vaccines are not currently in the country's medicine chart of Ecuador (it means that no insurance would cover the cost of it), therefore he had to sell his belongings to pay for part of the treatment. While suffering from this disease he had to enter into a legal battle with the state, so that the purchase of his medicines could be paid by Social Security, thank God he won, and they provided him with the treatment until now, this was about 4 months ago.

However, today, March 3, 2020, we learned that Xavico's follow-up exams for his illness, unfortunately, confirmed that the vaccine treatment is not working. Xavico must enter into a new and final treatment to save his life, which, as you can imagine, is also not included in the national drug chart, so Xavico must start a new legal battle with the state to see if they approve this new treatment.

It should be noted that our friend Xavico urgently requires these new vaccines “Nivolumab” and that each one costs $2,800.00. He needs to receive 2 of them every 15 days, for an indefinite period of time.

Xavico and his family have no resources left to pay for this new treatment that is vital.  It is the last chance to save his life.

Xavier Silva más conocido por sus amigos como Xavico tiene 42 años, es esposo y padre de 2 niños, cabeza y principal sustento de su hogar, recibió hace aproximadamente 2 años la noticia de que padecía de cancer de Linfoma de Hodgkin, desde ese día su vida y la de su familia tuvieron un cambio radical.

Inicialmente recibió tratamientos de quimioterapia los cuales no dieron resultado, y posteriormente inició un tratamiento de vacuna "brentuximab vedotin" ya que la quimioterapia no le hacía efecto, estas vacunas no están actualmente en el cuadro nacional de medicamentos del Ecuador por lo tanto tuvo que vender sus pertenencias para costearse parte del tratamiento, y aún padeciendo de esta enfermedad tuvo que entrar en una batalla legal con el estado, para que la compra de sus medicamento la pueda pagar el seguro social, gracias a Dios la ganó y le pudieron suministrar el tratamiento hasta la actualidad, esto ya hace unos 4 meses atrás.

Sin embargo hoy 03 de marzo del 2020 nos enteramos que a Xavico le han hecho exámenes de seguimiento para su enfermedad, los mismos que lamentablemente confirmaron que dicho tratamiento de vacunas no esta dando resultados. Por lo cual debe entrar en un nuevo y último tratamiento para salvar su vida, el cuál como se imaginarán tampoco está incluido en el cuadro nacional de medicamentos, así que ahora le toca volver a litigar con el estado para ver si le aprueban este nuevo tratamiento y esperar la voluntad de ellos para que sea tratado.

Cabe recalcar que nuestro amigo Xavico requiere urgentemente de este nuevo tratamiento llamado “Nivolumab” el cual tiene un costo de $2,800 por vacuna, y que además tiene que aplicarse 2 de estas cada 15 días por tiempo indefinido dependiendo de los avances de su recuperación y de los exámenes de seguimiento de su enfermedad.

Ni Xavico, ni su familia tienen más recursos económicos para costear este nuevo tratamiento que es vital y la última oportunidad para salvar su vida.
