Hi everyone, this is our sweet baby Poe McPoyle!
(Yeah, like "Edgar Allan Poe" and "The McPoyles" from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia')
He is 4.5 years old and has recently been diagnosed with effusive (wet) FIP. I can't even begin to describe the heartbreak that came over my partner and me when we learned how aggressive/terminal FIP is if left untreated. Poe has a history of IBD, but with this recent discovery, we think he has had chronic signs of FIP within the last year that have been misdiagnosed. While FIP has always been fatal in cats, there is now an experimental medication available that has an 80-90% success rate of curing FIP! Unfortunately, this medication is very expensive. Coupled with all of Poe's recent vet bills and additional medications we have drained so much from our savings to keep our little babe alive and fear that we may not be able to give Poe the fighting chance he deserves.
Poe's health has decreased rapidly within the last week, and we cannot fathom our home without him. He no longer eats on his own, he has become wobbly when he walks, he hardly gets up to drink water, and he sleeps/hides for most of the day. We have recently started Poe on this experimental medication, but we have a long road ahead. Poe has an (adopted) brother named Pluto, who misses playing with him and annoying him as every little brother would. Darling Poe is our first cat, and he holds such a special place in our hearts. Poe has one of the sweetest demeanors of any cat we have ever known and personally turn me into a raging crazy cat lady. We are hoping that your donations will help our sweet, goofy boy live a full and healthy life!
