Gloucester's SeaPerch Teams
Donation protected
Gloucester County, Virginia has some phenomenal budding engineers that need your help!
On Saturday, April 16, 2016 -- after months of designing, building and testing underwater robots -- Gloucester County robotics teams competed in the Tidewater Regional SeaPerch Challenge. Our teams blew the competition out of the water and brought home 1st and 2nd places in the Middle School division and 2nd place in the High School division, earning these three teams a spot at the National SeaPerch Challenge in Baton Rouge, LA on May 20-21.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime for these students, but it's also important for our community as a whole. STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education is critical to our nation's success. STEM teaches our young people critical thinking and problem solving skills that will benefit them their entire lives. The opportunity to engage and succeed in STEM activities like SeaPerch can be a transformative experience for our kids and open up doors and possibilities that they may never have otherwise.
Our teams have worked hard to earn their places at Nationals, but now they need your help to actually get there. Gloucester County School Board has committed resources to pay for the teams' registrations, but they don't have the resources to pay for airfare, food and lodging for our 10 students and 4 teachers. We are looking to our friends, families and businesses in Gloucester County and beyond to help them get there. The teams need to raise a total of ~$12,000 for the trip. If we exceed our goal, the fund balance will be used to support future STEM Activities.
All donations, big or small, welcomed. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
