For those of you who know my mom, Glory, you know she has a big heart. But this heart is not working properly and needs surgery. My mom has Hypetrophic Cardiomyopathy, which is a condition in which a portion of the heart muscle hardens, limiting bloodflow.  We were hoping she would be a candidate for a less invasive procedure, but unfortunately, that is not the case.  She will be undergoing open heart surgery on June 20th.  The surgery has to be performed at Keck Hospital of USC in Los Angeles.  While much of the medical expenses will be covered by her insurance, there are a lot of other expenses (and deductible), that need to be covered (back and forth traveling expenses as she has to be down in the L.A. area for preop bloodwork as well as postop appointments, hotel accommodations near the hospital for her husband and other family members during her 7 day post surgery hospital stay, etc).  Any financial support to help alleviate this burden on an already stressful situation would be incredibly helpful.  Also, Glory will need help once she returns to SLO with care, meals, errands, etc for both herself and her husband (she is the caregiver for him and will be unable to provide this care while recovering from surgery).  While I can do a lot of this on my own, I won't be able to do it all.  I'll create a meal train closer to the surgery date, but if you are available to help in any way, please let me know.   
Also, I'm in the process of getting my mom a smart phone, adding to her to my Verizon account, and setting her up with a prepaid Uber account as she won’t be able to drive for awhile (and my stepdad doesn’t drive at all), so unused Uber gift cards are another way one can contribute.
