Christina's Glory Hole/Furnace Fund
Hey Guys! Guess what?! Someone is holding a glassblowing furnace and two glory holes for me. YES! I said GLORY HOLES! ;-) bow chicka wow wow!
For those of who who do not know me I am Christina Altieri , a hand blown glass artist and instructor. Over the past few years I have been slowly expanding my small personal business, Love and Light Creations.
It has been a pleasure working with hot glass for 7 years. I have been blessed to be able to teach glassblowing over the past 4 years. I am so grateful for all the opportunities I have been granted in being a core part of the transformative process of manipulating honey like blobs into beautiful creations people get to admire in their homes. The students I have worked with will always get to keep the precious experience of hand making glass as well as keeping the treasured creation itself.
I love helping people create the designs for their pieces and translate those ideas and dreams into the new glass medium. One of the most rewarding parts of glassblowing is when people initially come into the studio scared or intimidated of the heat and throughout the process I help facilitate a safe space and transform their experience into a totally positive one full of joy, happiness, growth, and success.
I always start my classes saying, "glassblowing is a full body team sport, we are here to work together and have fun along the way. And we will learn many life skills cuz the glass teaches us a lot.” Some of the many life skills glass provides the opportunity to deepen in our lives are trust, communication, delegation, responsibility, receptiveness, resiliency, creative problem solving, flexibility and agility.
Currently I am one of the instructors at a studio in Norwood, MA., and get to use that studio to make my own personal work outside of my scheduled working hours.
HOWEVER I DREAM OF A STUDIO OF MY OWN SOMEDAY.
Well that someday is coming way sooner than we think. The ball has been set in motion!!!
A friend of mine has found a gentleman who is selling some of his glassblowing equipment.
HERES THE CATCH THOUGH. He is moving to Argentina very shortly and NEEDS ME TO PAY FOR THE EQUIPMENT ASAP.
Furnace that needs to be rebuild $100+repairs
Smaller single door Glory Hole $500
Larger double door Glory Hole $1000
And he is gifting me all the molds and controls for free, more details to come about what else he is gifting me.
So that brings my total to at least $1600 for the raw equipment as is in the condition. The furnace needs a complete repair job but I’m up to the challenge. I need both of these glory holes to be able to efficiently make smaller and larger pieces when I open my own studio. Glassblowing takes a lot of propane/oxygen and electricity. So installation of the equipment is another beast to take on when that time comes.
For now all I need is the money to purchase the equipment so if i make at least 1600 I am in the clear to have the equipment to my name and ill be able to figure out the rest when the time to rebuild the interior of the damaged furnace comes. If collectively we come up with 1600 I will be forever grateful. If at all possible it would be the icing on the cake if we could raise 5000 total to help with the costs of a rebuild. Please please contribute all you can. I have so many ideas of the products I want to make on my own time, with who I chose, at what time of the day. These are things that having my own studio I will be able to have the privilege of choosing when and how to operate. I also have a range of diverse classes I want to teach that span from brief intro classes to in-depth hands on learning, to the life skills learned during the process and explore them, to the creative coloring techniques and incorporating mindfulness and spirituality with the glass. I also hope to eventually study creative art therapy and apply that to glassblowing by incorporating new healing modalities with and through the manipulation of wind, water, fire and, earth of glassblowing itself.
I am so excited to have this opportunity to acquire this equipment. The dream has been dreamt and now the idea is becoming a reality. Help contribute to setting beautiful inertia in providing the possibility to allow me to accomplish my goal hope and dream of opening LOVE AND LIGHT CREATIONS- hand blown glass and beyond.
Seriously guys! I wouldnt be asking unless it was urgent. I have a once in a lifetime to get some glassblowing equipment for really cheap please please help me out. I have free storage space for the equipment for now. All i need is 1600 at least to purchase it. (go fund me takes a percentage of each donation plus 30 cents.) Every little bit helps and I am more than willing to accommodate you with some hand blown glass/photographs in exchange for funding me!!!!!
I'm in the process now of adding some rewards/incentives people can choose to receive like in a kickstarter campaign as my way to say thank you to anybody who contributes. PLEASE DONATE and keep checking back often as i will be updating and breaking down those incentives to make it irresistible ;-)
