Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out during one of the hardest times our family has ever faced. Our mom, Gloria, is battling liver failure due to a calcified clot on a duct, and can no longer work as she waits and fights to get on the liver transplant list. She went from being a full-time Registered Nurse for over 20 years to having to use a walker and depend on everyone around her to make it through her daily life. She is also having to depend on others to help with her two teenagers that she adopted when they were young, after our little sister, her youngest daughter, passed away from AML leukemia in 2013. It's a struggle in itself for her that she cannot be the independent woman that she has always been. Right now, our focus is on her healing and staying strong enough for a transplant — not on how her bills will get paid.

The medical bills, medications, travel costs, and everyday household expenses continue to pile up. Because she is unable to work during this time, covering the basics has become extremely difficult. She was recently denied long-term disability and is currently trying to get Social Security. My sister and I are doing as much as we can do, but we have our own bills and families.. and unfortunately, love just doesn't pay the bills. This financial stress only adds to an already overwhelming situation.

We are starting this GoFundMe to help ease that burden so she can focus on her health and the long road ahead. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward groceries, her copays, her storage unit that has her entire house in it, her cellphone bill, which she has to have a line for her to get the call for a donor, and help cover medically-related expenses while she waits for the life-saving transplant she desperately needs. We just want to focus on what truly matters.... keeping her comfortable, hopeful, and surrounded by love. We never imagined having to ask for help like this, but we are doing everything we can to support our mom through this fight.
