Gloria's heart needs our love

Gloria Kunz has dedicated the last 27 years to serving children, youth and families through the Burnside Gorge Community Centre. Now she needs our help!
In January 2018 Gloria was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, an inherited heart condition which creates abnormal thickening of the heart muscle. Adding complication, the thickening is extending down through her heart and into her left ventricle, restricting her blood flow and reducing the amount of oxygen her body is receiving.
Gloria requires a life-saving operation, a "transapical midventricular septal myectomy," that can only be performed in one facility in all of North America, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minneapolis. The BC Government has approved her surgery at the Mayo Clinic but will only cover the costs of the surgery itself.
We are raising funds to help Gloria cover the costs of travel and accommodations for herself and a caregiver for a minimum of two weeks in Rochester. She may also need to purchase additional insurance and pay for any equipment, medications, and tests that are not directly related to the surgery.
Now that she has been approved at Mayo she is just waiting on a surgery date which is expected soon as her condition continues to worsen. We will share updates as we have them.
Unfortunately this surgery is Gloria's only option as she is not a candidate for a heart transplant.
