Gloria vs. Metastatic Invasive Ductal Carcinoma

My name is Chris setting up this fundraiser hoping to get Gloria, my sister, some financial support throughout her battle with breast cancer.****There is nobody in the world that knows me better than my sister Gloria…She is truly a woman to admire. A warrior. She is my sister “sister” and I can’t imagine my life without her.

When she gave me the bad news I was crushed & told her if things don’t work out I’ll go with you. We’ll leave this world together so you decide for both of us….(She laughed) I reiterated to have faith, to remain positive & strong to defeat & overcome breast cancer just like many others have but then after I left her house, I failed to follow my own advice. I was so overwhelmed with stress; missed a few days of work & couldn’t sleep or function just fearing the outcome. A couple of days later, Gloria reached out to me “I hear you are not doing well & here I’m getting ready to fight the fight of my life against cancer; I’m going to give it all I got & I need you to stay strong, feel better & get it together because I’m going to need a lot of you.”
Gloria is not one to stay out of work & as head of the household & single mother she has ignored her own needs for many years to take care of others; her pain, her illness; living paycheck to paycheck, borrowing…doing her best so her kids don’t go without shelter and food. Enduring years of discomfort working behind a computer hoping not to loose her job; which is her only source of financial support.

**** Her journey has been years long & painful****
A few years back: for no reason she started to have extreme headaches; had to get up & walk slowly, couldn’t bend laugh cough or sneeze without getting an explosive headache…Blurry vision & temporary facial paralysis was part of it…still kept working. Trying to find the source of her symptoms we scheduled several appointments with a neurologist & a cardiologist. The cardiologist diagnosed her with mini-strokes caused by stress insomnia & poor nutrition. The neurologist thought a possible spinal leak was the source of her movement headaches and other symptoms. Nothing they said or prescribed worked! A couple of years ago after more Ultrasounds, MRI’s CT & PET scans she was then made aware of small tumors compromising her breast, kidneys, liver, lungs along with swollen lymph nodes & adrenal glands but instead of removal or biopsy she was scheduled for follow up appointments to measure growth(?) by taking more & more x-rays
Gloria was desperate as she knew something was not right and felt it was just a matter of time before something exploded so she asked her neurologist to refer her to the Mayo Clinic and after months of waiting, she was given an appointment. She went to the Mayo Clinic a couple of times. The last time she was scheduled for a 4++hrs MRI; she came out of there in pain crying & scared as she felt something popped out of place under her arm on the left side. She came back & scheduled with the same Oncologist that dismissed her 2 years ago without doing a biopsy.

January 16, 2024 GLORIA was diagnosed with metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma.
PORT placed 2-1-24 Chemo 2-9-24-Ending May/June

2-19-24 AS OF TODAY she has been scheduled 2-27-24 to biopsy other areas, hoping & praying they’re not life threatening. Next labs-chemo treatment right after on 2-29-24.

Could’ve been so different! I feel there is so much malpractice & negligence when it comes to the medical profession. Doctors are more about their pocket -no longer about saving lives. Chris
