Gloria Needs Surgery to Fight sepsis and save her life
Donation protected
Hi all,
My name is Mercedes Ximena, and I’m the only child of a truly marvelous woman, my mom, Gloria. She is strong, kind, and full of love. The kind of mother who gave me everything she had and taught me to do the same for others.
Last week, my mom suddenly fell ill with high fevers and severe abdominal pain. She was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with sepsis caused by kidney stones. The infection won’t stop until those stones are removed, but she’s been placed on a long waitlist for surgery at the public hospital. It could take weeks, even a month, putting her at serious risk of permanent kidney damage or dying.
I had to fly to Mexico immediately to be by her side because she needs 24/7 care at the hospital. In the public system here, families often have to take on the role of caregivers—helping feed, bathe, and monitor the patient around the clock. It’s emotionally and physically overwhelming, but I couldn’t imagine not being here.
Our only other option is to transfer her to a private hospital, where they can perform the surgery much sooner and give her the urgent care she needs to heal. But the costs are extremely high, and we simply can’t afford it on our own.
I have already used all my savings to cover the medications and supplies the public hospital doesn’t provide. This is my last resort, asking for your help, for anything you can give. Every single dollar brings us closer to saving my mom’s life.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading, for caring, and for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and deep gratitude,
Mercedes Ximena
