Gloria Murphy Medical Bills
Donation protected
Hi everyone.
I've started this fundraiser for my mother, Gloria Murphy.
At about 1:30 pm on August 29th, she had started up the cellar stairs with some clean bedding that she had just washed. We believe the bedding was hanging down when she was carrying it and it got tangled up in her feet. My mother then fell under the railing and off the stairs to the cement floor below. She hit her head, left shoulder, and arm on the floor. My dad was home and went to her aid when he heard the crash from her fall. He realized immediately it was serious, as she was bleeding from the head and not in good shape, so he dialed 911. She was transported by Montpelier Ambulance to The Central Vermont Medical Center, where she was assessed by a doctor, sent away for a Cat Scan, and then the doctor returned to say that she had a fractured skull, a ruptured ear drum, and severe bruising to her left shoulder and neck. This hospital does not have a neurologist or team, so she was transferred by Barre Town Ambulance about away to The UVM Medical Center in Burlington. She was admitted to the intensive care unit and more testing was done. Her skull has a hair line fracture and she has a ruptured ear drum. These are the 2 serious injuries.
This afternoon she was moved from intensive care, to a regular room. She wants everyone to know that she is feeling horrible and does not want any visitors at this time. We are supposed to hear from the neurologist tomorrow, as we have no info regarding treatment, time in hospital, recovery, etc.
I'm going to do whatever I can to help them through this financially, but I know it won't be enough. I'm asking for some help from friends, family, etc. No amount is too small and I know will be greatly appreciate by all of us.
A little side note:
The bedding she was carrying when she fell was going to be delivered to a family that was in need of it that afternoon. If anyone knows my mother, she's always thinking of others more than herself. We've told her during this time, she needs to focus herself and not worry about everyone else.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and get well wishes. They mean a lot to us.
