Gloria Creighton-Delahunt
September 22, 1946 – July 4, 2025
It is with a broken heart and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Gloria Creighton-Delahunt. Gloria was her husband Craig's soul mate and a beloved sister, aunt, teacher, and friend to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents Jane and Ernest; her brother Frank and sister Eliza. She is survived by her four siblings Olivia, Gabriella, David and Derek.
Gloria’s true passion was always dance. While studying at McGill, she danced with Le Groupe de la Place Royale and performed at Montreal’s Expo 67. After earning her teaching degree at UBC, she began her distinguished career in education in Port Moody, where she played a pioneering role in establishing the French Immersion program throughout the Tri-Cities. Gloria also taught at Burnaby North and Cariboo Hill secondary schools, Douglas College, and UBC and was a driving force behind the creation of Immram Dance Studio and Immram Dance Theatre. Among her many accomplishments, Gloria was instrumental in having dance officially recognized as a teachable and accredited subject in secondary schools—a significant contribution to arts education in British Columbia.
Gloria’s legacy lives on in the generations she taught, the programs she helped build, and the grace with which she lived her life. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, students, and all those who were fortunate to have known her. Her spirit will live on and always dance among us.
