If you know Vince Globokar, you are very lucky!
He’s known as Hun, Dad, Papalooch, Son, Big Brother, Big Guy, Little Flame, Jr , Red, Uncle, Nephew, Mr. Vince, Coach Vince, and Friend.
His most favorite titles are “Papa” to his 7 grandchildren, “Dad” to his son Johnny and daughter Nikki, and “My Vince” to Ginny, his beautiful wife of 45 years.
Normally, you could find his big, friendly smile behind the steering wheel of Willoughby-Eastlake school bus #49. Adored by his kids and their parents, “Mr. Vince” brought safety, security and laughter to all of his bus riders.
In June of 2012 he started 9 grueling weeks, 5 days a week of radiation to battle cancer. With the help of his awesome doctors, Vince remains Cancer free to this day.
He has had his bumps in the road here and there medically, but nothing compares to the worry and heartbreak his family is feeling right now.
Today, he is in the ICU fighting for his life. Since March 21 of this year, he has had to undergo 5 surgeries for what should have been a routine hip replacement. Due to infections, bleeding issues, and numerous other complications, the last 7 months have been horrific. Just as he finally thought he was on the road to recovery, as a result of his 5th hip surgury, Vince had to be rushed to the hospital Monday afternoon due to excruciating abdominal pain. Doctors discovered that he had a hernia and a piece of his colon was being strangled within it. Within 5 hours, he was in grave condition, requiring emergency surgery. Doctors determined that his colon had completely died and needed to be removed. He has had two additional surgeries as an attempt to fix him, both of which came with a substantial risk that he would not make it out of the OR alive. By the grace of God, he made it through the procedures, but he is not out of the woods yet. Still facing an irratic heart rate and very low BP, he is now on a ventilator in an induced coma. He has received his last rights and countless meds, but he is still fighting for his life with the fear of what is to come.
Ginny has stayed by her Vince’s side, along with their kids and grandkids, throughout this whole ordeal, and, unsurprisingly, this has caused extreme financial hardship.
Vince and Ginny give and give with their whole hearts, never asking for anything in return. But the bills are piling up, the stress is insurmountable, and the fight isn’t nearly over.
At this time, we are asking for your help in alleviating some of the financial burden during this unbelievably difficult time. Any amount will help, and all funds will go directly to them, hopefully allowing them to be together during the difficult times; past, present and whatever lies ahead.
More importantly, we ask you for your prayers and positive wishes to help Vince get to the other side of this, and get him back home to his family, his wife, and the wonderful children that miss Mr. Vince.
