Support Renz’s Education & Global Missionary Work

Hello there!

My name is Renz and I am a recent life-science graduate at the University of Toronto.  I completed my BSci (Hons) undergraduate program specializing in Global Health Studies and Psychology. 

I was previously in the Philippines this March thanks to everyone’s support

Now, I have been given a very special opportunity to continue reaching communities throughout the Philippines serving as a Missionary and working simultaneously on global health research in these affected communities with International Care Ministries (ICM) for a period of 2 years.  At the same time, I will be completing a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree online at Michigan State University.

ICM is a non-profit organization focused on alleviating poverty in the Philippines. Established in 1992, ICM works to transform the lives of the ultra-poor through a holistic approach that includes education, healthcare, livelihood training, and spiritual nurturing. They operate various programs aimed at empowering individuals and communities to break the cycle of poverty. These programs often involve training in skills that help people improve their income, access to healthcare services, and educational opportunities for children and adults. ICM is known for its strong community-based interventions and partnerships with local organizations and churches to reach the most vulnerable populations. 

I am very passionate about global health issues, especially those that affect low-income (third-world) countries like the Philippine nation, where my family and I came from before migrating to Canada.  While I am serving as a Missionary Researcher in the Philippines, completing this MPH program would help advance the skills I would need to further contribute to this mission.

I will be flying to the Philippines this September for a period of 2 years.  I want to emphasize that this opportunity will allow me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need while gaining valuable experience in global health.  At the same time, completing my MPH degree part-time would also become the foundation for my future goal of being a medical doctor and provide insight into practicing medicine in a global health setting.

Your donation will allow me to continue the global health research work I have been doing, help further my graduate education, while supporting my mission in these needy communities in the Philippines.
