Global Coralition: Using Art to Save Our Reefs

Every living creature needs coral to survive. At the current rate, it is estimated all of our coral reefs will be gone by 2050.

Coral reefs support 25% of all marine life, which supplies 70% of the oxygen we breathe.

They protect our coastlines and provide food, medicine and livelihood to over a billion people.

Without them, we may have a rippling economic and ecosystem collapse.

We need to save our oceans. We can start by saving coral, the foundation of all marine life.

We are the Global Coralition, a for-benefit organization that uses art to unite science and communities around coral reef restoration.

Climate change is a global problem with grassroots solutions.

We design, build, and deploy large-scale sculptures to be deployed into the ocean to become coral and marine habitats in at-risk regions. We use art as a vehicle to catalyze local action and deliver powerful messages.  Partnered with local restoration groups, we support reef restoration efforts through education, land-based coral farming, policy-making, and regenerative development.

Art transcends language, and with art we can create a common ground for people around the world to restore our oceans together.

We are currently on the north shore of the Dominican Republic, building a reef restoration site: a 14' tall sculpture of the Taino goddess of the universe, Atabey and a small-scale land-based coral farm.

We are partnering with schools to facilitate marine education and cultural empowerment programs, and uniting divers, local officials, fisheries, refugees, local government, and developers to influence nationwide change.

See our last sculpture Mazu, deployed off the coast of Koh Tao, Thailand. She holds up to 5000 coral transplants and became a marine habitat after only 4 months. She is part of a one square mile artificial reef site in Koh Tao, Thailand.
