Hello my name is Jesse and I am the lucky mom to four beautiful kiddos. It has recently been discovered that my four year old, and 15 month old sons, are both in need of surgeries outside of our community. I find myself in need of financial help to make this happen smoothly. I have been trying to figure out a way of managing how to do this without asking for help, but have been unsuccessful. I am a proud and private woman and it’s a challenge for me to humble myself and ask for assistance from friends, or even people who do not know me personally.
I am self-employed, single parent, running a registered, in-home daycare to facilitate being at home for my four children (9, 7, 4, 15 months). I love the work and wouldn’t have it any other way, but this work situation does pose some tricky moments when it comes to needing time off.
My two youngest sons must have two separate surgeries each over the next few months. To access the medical care they need we have to travel out of our community and stay overnight. I have already made this trip with them twice for consultation with the pediatric surgeon, and we have to go for four more overnights on four separate occasions. We will also have up to six additional day trips for follow-up examinations. The problem I am having is funding these trips because I will lose up to 14 days of work. This number of days does not include any other possible days off I may need to lose, to care for my boys as they heal. This time off wouldn’t be so large of an issue if I worked for a company and had sick days or holiday days to access. However, because I am self-employed I will receive no wages for those days that I am unable to work.
My income is the only one for my household and needs to cover all household bills. I am looking to raise enough money so that the days I need to take off do not seriously negatively impact my already very tight budget. I am trying to find a way to be able to concentrate on being with my children when they need me, and minimize the stress that the lost wages will cause. I appreciate any help you can give me because I literally can’t afford to do without those days of income. I thank you for any support you can send my way.
