In memory of loving husband & father; Glenn Silva

Aloha, my name is Julie Silva.

It's very difficult to describe the feeling of being here and typing any of this out, but our family desperately needs help.

 

Glenn was a funny, dependable, honest, loving man who devoted himself to his family, his friends and this island. He has left his mark in so many ways and places on our island. From building the Kekaha seawall to protect us, tons of infrastructure and countless others He was always there to help others. Often, he didn't even expect anything in return. A few weeks back, Glenn finally needed to give in to his heart conditions. It was sudden, and none of us were expecting it. Not right now.

 

Unfortunately, circumstances have put us in a position of whole unpreparedness; Glenn was removed from his previous insurance with his long time work, cutting off our life insurance on him, and now with the sudden buildup of seemingly insurmountable medical bills, things are seeming bleak. The thought of Glenn looking down at all of this and being unable to help us is a distressing thought.

 

The donations would be used to, first of all, get Glenn back to Kauai, his home. We don't even have the money to pay the mortuary to get him here. And secondly, there are many people who loved Glenn that would like to see some kind of celebration of life; as would we. And mostly, we had a team of heart surgeons who were doing everything they could to keep him with us; the wonderful doctors at both Pali Momi medical center, and Straub Medical Center on Oah'u... we could never repay them for what they tried to do for Glenn, and for us.. but we'd like to start to be able to by chipping at some of these bills.

I've been charged nearly $400,000 due to Glenn losing his insurance for reasons best not explained here, and now my sons and I are stuck with it. As we receive the bills, I will post them, but here are some.
