Friends and Family,
Let me first thank you for taking the time to stop and hear our story, it means more than you know. My father, Glenn Abbott, was recently diagnosed with stage two Adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. Glenn is a 42 year old son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Last December, he started experiencing horrible pains and significant weight loss. A few doctors appointments and tests later, they found a mass on his pancreas. The best course of action was to undergo a semi-risky surgery to remove the mass and later they would perform a biopsy to determine if the mass was cancerous. Unfortunately , when the surgeon got inside, the mass was significantly larger than they had anticipated and he was unable to remove it. A biopsy was taken and the waiting game began. A few days later our worst fears came true, my father was diagnosed pancreatic cancer.
Glenn is currently undergoing an eight week chemo and radiation treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. Being that he is so young and that they cought the cancer at stage two, they are giving him what they call "everything but the kitchen sink". After the eight weeks, they will do a scan to determine if the tumor has shrunk. If it has, they will continue with chemo and radiation until it is small enough to safely remove. If it hasn't, well, let's not go down that road...
My father is the sole provider for his family, he has worked hard his entire life to make sure we never went without. Having to undergo an aggressive form of chemo has prevented him from working full time and insurance doesn't cover 100% of his treatment. My father would never ask for help so this is why I created a go-fund-me for him. We can't take away the physical or emotional burden that chemo has caused him, but together, we can ease some of the financial burden.
Anything helps, big or small! If you cannot donate with money, donate with prayers. We can use it all!
Thank you for your time,
Alyssa McWilliams
