Glennie Kitten Rescue: Help Us Save Their Lives
What began with one tiny, injured kitten has turned into a mission of compassion.
We recently discovered a small group of stray kittens abandoned behind a pole barn in Glennie, Michigan. The first kitten we found had botflies embedded in her skin and even one in her nostril. She was suffering but still purring—fighting to survive. One shelter was able to take her in and get the medical help she needs (the botfly was removed from her nose and they updated me and she is doing well!). Unfortunately, most shelters are full. Since then, we’ve rescued three more kittens, each with their own injuries, infections, or signs of neglect.
Despite their rough start, they are sweet, affectionate, and full of life. But they need urgent medical attention, and we’re doing everything we can with what we have—cleaning wounds, removing parasites, and giving them shelter and love.
These kittens deserve more.
They deserve safety, care, and the chance to live without pain.
We’ve also learned that we’re not alone in this—many other people in the Glennie area have reported seeing groups of stray kittens wandering near sheds, barns, and wooded properties. It’s clear that this isn’t an isolated situation—it’s part of a larger issue of stray and abandoned kittens in our community, many of whom are likely sick, injured, or too young to survive on their own. This is the result of negligent pet owners letting their cats roam without being nuetered/spayed. Or those same people dumping them somewhere. We’re doing what we can to help the ones we've found, but there may be more still out there in need. We can’t keep them all, but are willing to get them the help they need before finding them good homes.
We’re asking for help to cover:
Veterinary exams and treatment
Antibiotics, dewormers, and parasite removal
Emergency care if needed
Spay/neuter procedures when they’re old enough
Food and basic supplies
Every donation—no matter how small—goes directly to the care and survival of these kittens. If you can’t donate, please share this with others who might be able to help.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us fight for these lives. With most shelters being full, we’re doing all we can before searching for an open spot.
They didn’t choose to be born into this, but we can choose to be the reason they survive it.
❤️ With gratitude,
