Glenn Needs a Liver: Your Help Can Save Him!

My son, Glenn Labor, has been diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the Liver and will soon need a liver transplant. He’s already had multiple medical procedures, a hospital stay and equipment expenses due to his condition. Once he’s on the transplant list it could take months or years for a match to become available. We don’t know yet how much his insurance will cover but we do know that he’ll need a good portion of the funds available before he can get the transplant when a match does become available. Along with the medical costs he’s struggling with everyday living expenses. Below are a few words from Glenn.
Hello everyone! In August 2024 I was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver. In lay men’s terms my liver is clogged and cannot process food and drink like a healthy liver. This causes a lot of excess fluids to enter my abdomen that must be drained. Initially it was 4 to 5 weeks between going to the hospital to drain fluid. By late December I visited the hospital weekly to drain excess fluid. The procedure is painful, a 3” long needle to numb area, slit cut in skin with scalpel, and then the catheter is poked into the lower abdomen (excruciating pain) and draining starts. We’ve drained up to 22lbs of fluid many times. This wreaks havoc on me, but also a big relief! I recently had a tube inserted into me to drain fluid at home which helps me stay more comfortable and can manage the fluid build-up better, and I don’t have to go to the hospital weekly.
But my liver is beyond repairing itself, I need a new liver! I have been unable to work due to this and need help with monthly bills too. According to the American Liver Foundation, in 2020 the average cost of a liver transplant with insurance in the United States is around $878,400. That’s a big number and I need help to raise the funds required. Words cannot describe how thankful I am to everyone. Your donation will help save my life. Thank You, Glenn
