Glenn Merrifields House Fire
Donation protected
As most of you have heard, my brother, Glenn Merrifield just lost his house (3 story complex in the Plot section of Scranton) in a fire on Sunday, May 24, 2020.
Glenn was just getting home from work as his back porch was already on fire. His downstairs tenant, Diana, tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher but it was already ignited too much. Diana then knew that Isaac was in his 2nd floor apartment sleeping so she went up the stairs and banged on his door screaming for him to get out. He made it outside. A friend was on the 3rd floor by means of Glenn's side. He had two exits to flee from but by the time a neighbor, Liz, called frantically to warn him, flames and smoke blocked both routes. He was able to make his way to a front window where he clung to a steep-sloping ledge until the firefighters were able to get their ladders to him. All tenants made it out with no injuries.
When crews arrived, flames had already engulfed the rear of the home and had spread to the house next door.
We are setting up this account to try to help out Glenn as well as his tenants who have also lost all of their belongings.
