Hi my name is Michelle Douglas, Many of
you may know me and some don’t.
Two years ago, my mother
Gleniver Douglas was diagnosed with stage 4 uterine cancer, and ever since then,
it’s been the battle of her life. Gleniver
and the Douglas family took the news in
stride and decided to battle the disease
head-on. Gleniver underwent a series of
chemo treatments and was able to
decrease the cancer cells from 795 to 10.8
After much deliberation, it was inferred
that I'd quit my job to care for my mother
full-time, and this journey began in
October of 2021.
As of lately, her cancer levels increased due to her recent hospitalization that required
her series of treatments to stop twice, then was later restarted. In addition, because of several city violations of high levels of lead, required immediate construction within our apartment.
Unfortunately, we are displaced out of our
apartment for three months and a week
now. Gleniver, along with me
(daughter - Michelle) and husband Earl (my father) have been living in a one bedroom
hotel with no accessible kitchen for the
duration.
Given, my father and I have been splitting
the bills for the care of our Gleniver and
ourselves while living in this hotel, but it
has become extremely overwhelming to
both our savings for the coverage of food,
travel and board. Many of the family have
been reaching out and asking what they
can do to help. Some of us got together
and came up with a family fund, and yet,
that has reached it's course of several
hundred dollars; we are truly grateful for.
We are also actively looking for a suitable
apartment while facing these immediate
turmoils.
So far, we've bootstrapped $14,000 which covers a weekly $900 hotel stay, and in
addition to travel and food. The funds will
be used to alleviate the financial
exhaustion. Please continue to keep
Gleniver and the Douglas family in your
