Glenfield Middle School's New Drumline!

Located in a town with a 40+ years history of Drumming excellence, Glenfield Middle School of Montclair, NJ, is pounding its way onto the scene! We are making efforts, including raising money, to benefit the new Glenfield Middle School Drumline and drum courses in the works! Help us start a Glenfield drum line for the first time to bring the beat to our 6th through 8th graders!

While the drumming energy, passion, and excitement are expressed throughout their time at Hillside Elementary School, that thundering experience sadly comes to an end once these students leave their elementary school. Our school, Glenfield Middle School, does not have a full ensemble drum experience to continue. This leaves many of our talented youngsters heartbroken and tearfully missing their beat.

Our now Glenfield Middle School students often reminisce about past performances that have given them a passion for the drums and confidence within themselves. Performing at Montclair’s very first Pride Festival in 2022, having the opportunity to wow the crowd at the annual African American Heritage Festival in town, and the many in-school performances that lit up the faces of their peers, this is more than an elective. It is a movement.

Here at Glenfield, we are looking to implement a Drumline program and additional drum classes. We need our students to have the opportunity to continue their passion for percussion and performance. Our efforts to extend a drumming program can’t take effect unless we have the support of everyone in our community. That’s where you come in!

I’m writing to ask you to donate towards our goal to help implement a new drumline at Glenfield Middle School. We need an inventory of drums, drum equipment, and supplies for students to participate in drum courses and the intended Drumline. By donating, you will be helping with the cost of instruments and materials so that we can start a new tradition at Glenfield and allow more students the opportunity to enroll in a drum course.

Q: Can we mail in a donation check?

A: Sure! You may make it payable to Glenfield PTA Inc. and reference Glenfield Drum Initiative in the Memo Line. Our mailing address is 25 Maple Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07042.

Q: How long will it take to raise funds?

A: This is unpredictable. We will try our best to raise funds as quickly as possible. Please share this fundraiser and encourage others to donate and share!

Q: When will the Drumline begin?

A: We’re excited about the start of our drum class, but we cannot predict an exact start date. Once we raise funds needed, our school administration can organize and put a course on the schedule.

Q. If we haven't gotten all of the equipment needed, can the drums still be used for drum classes until we have enough for a full drumline?

A. Yes! We want to acquire as much equipment as possible so that we can start somewhere!

Q: If you receive new, donated equipment, would your GoFundMe ask amount decrease?

A: Yes! Our goal is to only ask for what is needed. We must be fair to our community!

Q: In an extreme emergency, and the fundraiser would need to cease, are GoFundMe donations refundable to donors?

A: Typically, donations are non-refundable. Once funds are distributed to the organizer (from GoFundMe), the GoFundMe organization cannot refund the donation. However, we, as the organizer, can refund them should any rare, isolated event severely disrupt the intended cause of the fundraiser.
