Hello, my name is Jhomar Sumajit, and I have set up this fundraiser to support my sister Glenda's fight against ALS.
As mentioned, Glenda Andres was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This recent diagnosis has completely shocked her, her family and her friends; not long ago, Glenda was working on the frontlines as a nurse against the COVID-19 pandemic. We created this GoFundMe to help support her through this battle.
ALS is a terminal disease that attacks and weakens your nervous system, affecting everyday tasks such as walking, eating, speaking, bathing, etc. While most ALS patients see a slower decline over several years, our sister’s symptoms have rapidly progressed at an accelerated rate. Unfortunately, now she cannot walk or feed herself and has bouts of shortness of breath throughout the day. As a result, she relies on her husband and family to perform basic living activities.
ALS is a very rare disease that affects approximately 5000 people annually in the United States. It is a progressive, incurable and irreversible disease. The medical care for an individual with ALS can range from about $16,000-$200,000 per year. For that reason, we have created this page.
Despite Glenda's shortcomings, my sister constantly smiles and jokes around. She even jokingly told me to come closer to punch me. If you have ever met my sister, you know how her smile and laughter can brighten up the room.
We kindly ask that you share this post and/or donate any amount to help her with the expenses of living with ALS to help improve her quality of life. Anything you can do to help Glenda is greatly appreciated.
Right now we need a miracle. Please pray for her, her husband Rene and their family/friends. We sincerely thank you all.
