Glenda's fight with cancer

Friends and family, my name is Javi and I'm currently raising funds for my mom, Glenda.

 

My mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the beginning of October 2021. My mom and her doctors were not suspecting she had cancer whatsoever. For about a week, she was believed to have had a case of gastritis, but something just didn't feel right to her. My mom decided to visit an emergency room and after being evaluated and having gone through CT imaging, the mass was incidentally discovered.

 

The news was gut wrenching and shocking, as it is to many. And it's exactly the kind of news I have been so familiar with but could never fully comprehend. For those of you who don't know, I have been an Oncology nurse for 3 years. I have been on the side that treats and supports patients and their families who have been affected by all types of cancer. From delivering the news, to giving chemo countless times in my brief time as a nurse, I've seen many dark days and many triumphant ones but ironically nothing could have prepared me emotionally for such a situation, let alone my mom.

 

 

My mom is the strongest person I’ve ever known, I’ve seen her endure more than most. She is also one of the most loving and caring. There isn’t a single thing my mother hasn’t done or wouldn’t do for me, and I’ve seen her share her heart countlessly with coworkers, friends, etc. Whether providing them a ride home, a home-cooked meal, a place to stay, a prayer, advice, or someone to laugh with, cry with, whatever it may be. I have seen my mother touch the hearts of more people I could count.

This has been a very testing time for her and for our family. My mother has been working two jobs for the past few years but her condition has forced her to reduce her work schedule to almost nothing. With little income, this has forced a great strain on being able to financially support necessities like her apartment, her car, her medical bills and much more.

 

With this, I ask you from the very bottom of my heart if it is within your means to help financially, to please donate. I also ask that you please extend your prayers, your thoughts, and your love to my mom. At the end of the day, we trust and know the Lord will provide a way to make it through this season. We are grateful for all of those who have already shown her so much grace and love and support to her, we are grateful for those of you here and now by taking the time to even read all of this, and we are grateful for those who will support my mom in the future. 

** She started chemotherapy at the Miami Cancer Institute on October 25th and has currently completed 4 cycles of FOLFIRINOX.  We will continue providing updates on her as the time passes.**
