Glenburn Miners Welfare Football Club 2016’s are raising money in aid of AMMF - The Cholangiocarcinoma Charity ( bile duct cancer) the boys have chosen to do an Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness & spread the word for the #RethinkLiverCancer campaign..
One of the boys in the team immediate family member was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer)-
This is Louie’s story:
“ My Auntie Claire was diagnosed in February 2024 with Cholangiocarcinoma ( bile duct cancer) at the age of 42. This turned my Auntie Claire’s and the families world upside down.
This type of cancer isn’t well known & usually by the time it’s diagnosed it’s too far gone to be treatable. Claire was transferred to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to look at treatment options. The only option really being a liver resection. Claire was told if they couldn’t remove the tumour then she would have around a year left to live .On the 24th April 2024 Claire had the surgery & it was a success. The medical team were amazing! Claire has taken part in a drug trial and is continuing her treatment at the Beatson in Glasgow. Treatment options in Scotland are not extensive and this is why myself , my team mates at Glenburn MWFC - 2016’s & the charity would like you to advocate for them & raise awareness and funds for much needed research to enable patients to undergo molecular profiling to improve diagnosis & open more doors to potential treatments ‘
Glenburn MWFC - 2016 invite you to join them in this mission—every contribution counts and helps make a difference.
