Glen White(also known as Slugger to some friends and family) is my brother-in-law and he is a hero to our family. He loves and takes care of my sister, Mikhail, and their three kids, Keagan, Akira, and Merrick. Glen runs his own business, and often has to also take care of most things at home, as my sister is mostly disabled through scoliosis, herniated discs, and bipolar disorder. Glen loves the Dallas Cowboys, taking the kids for hikes, playing with the dogs, and enjoying good food. He does so much for his family and has this light about him that is so enjoyable to be around. Glen is always super healthy, so it surprised everyone when in March of 2020 he began to be very ill. He went to clinics and had 4 different hospital stays at three different hospitals over a two month period. Glen's heart had begun to fail. After his second stay he was sent home and completely bed ridden often very sick from the medication. Mikhail ended up driving him to a new hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital, where they immediately submitted him to the Intensive Care Unit. Eventually his heart rate had gone up so high that they had to sedate him and put him on life support through an ECMO machine. It was confirmed that he would need a heart transplant and could die any moment. He was transferred from the second hospital to Baylor University Medical Center Hospital, where their insurance finally began and Glen was approved for a Heart Transplant. They had to revive him more than once with CPR and a defibrillator. He was put on a breathing machine and dialysis to help his kidney's handle all of the medication he was on.  Mikhail awaited the call to say they had found a heart for him. When she received the call, she quickly approved of the heart they had found. On Monday, March 4 at 1:19 am, Glen went in for surgery still sedated from days before. His surgery lasted around 5 hours, and the doctors told Mikhail the new heart looked great and seemed to be doing well. They kept him sedated for a couple more days, and Mikhail for the first time was allowed to visit the hospital. During this whole ordeal, Mikhail was not allowed to visit Glen due to the Corona Virus Pandemic and strict hospital guidelines. Eventually Glen was awakened, and told he had received a heart transplant. He seemed to really struggle with going to sleep and waking up days in the future with a new heart. Glen's long road of recovery and new life was just beginning. The doctor's estimated 2-4 weeks of hospital recovery. Glen had improved enough through sheer determination to be released after only nine days.

Most importantly, is where he is now. Glen, Mikhail, and the kids have had to make many changes since the Heart Transplant. They were advised by their medical team to move, as their third story apartment would put too much stress on Glen's heart. Because of the lack of work Glen has been able to do in his business, their physical office location has been closed. Glen is often unable to do anything, because of the intense pain and discomfort he still experiences from the surgery. He is also weakened from  the many side effects from the medication he has to be on for heart acceptance. Right now, this family, needs our support. They need your words, prayers, and actions to support them. The biggest stress and burden for them right now is their mounting medical debt and Glen's inability to work as he'd like. Often much of the strength he has, is put into going to his rehabilitation and doctor's appointments. Their medical debt continues to grow with no definite ability to be able to pay it. Their first hospital bills are around $43,000 and $175,000 from the second hospital. They have not yet received their bills from Baylor. Gofundme estimates that the financial burden of a heart transplant to be 1 million dollars. This is a great burden for one family, but manageable through community effort.

This is a time for generosity of spirit and charitable donation. This is an opportunity for you to give to a family who is in deep need and also deeply appreciative for their second chance at life. Any and all contributions will be helpful, even a few dollars if that's all you're able to give. If you are unable but would still like to contribute in some way, please share this page with any and all you know. On behalf of Glen and Mikhail, as well as the rest of our family, I want to thank all those who have been there for them through word, thought, deed and prayer. I especially want to thank the medical staff at both Parkland and Baylor for everything they have done and the great care they gave Glen. With your dedication to your education, training, and to your patients you make a world of difference. You gave us back our Superhero, and you gave him a second chance at life. A MESSAGE FROM MIKHAIL: The timing of all that transpired is incredible. God orchestrated every little thing. Every detail. The docs have gone and on and on about how no one gets presented that fast. No one gets on the top of the list and then a heart 48 hours later. So fast. And they have all gone on and on about how well he was doing after surgery. What a great heart he got. He came home 9 days after coming out of ICU. The night he went in for his surgery his surgeon Dr Enter had told me 2-4 weeks. God used this incredibly difficult time in our life to show others who he is. Throughout all of this God helped to give me a peace. I knew that if Glen lived or died it would all be apart of Gods plan. He uses even the most difficult of times for his good. To grow us, to show how much we need his strength, and to show others his miraculous works. Please support this cause by sharing this page.         #GlenNewHeartNewLife
