Glemsford's Community Defibrillator @ The SPAR

Donation protected

We all know that defibrillators can save lives. The British Heart Foundation's website describes a defibrillator as a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. They can be referred to as an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), PAD (Public Access Defibrillator) or a defib.

Glemsford has a population of over 3,000 people, and as we are a rural village, we do not have a hospital right on our doorstep.

There are already two defibrillators in the village - one at the telephone exchange, and one at the village hall/library. Having another defibrillator in the village can only be a good thing. The SPAR (Blakemore Group) have kindly agreed to having one installed on the outside of the SPAR shop for 24 hour public access in case of an emergency.

We have teamed up with Gryphon First Aid Unit in Sudbury to help with the sourcing and installation of the defibrillator. Martin Richards, the Principal of the charity, has also offered awareness training sessions for the community free of charge.

Once the defibrillator is installed, it will then be registered with the Ambulance Services.

Heart attacks can happen to anyone at anytime, so please help support this cause by donating - so we can all help save lives together. Thank you
