Gladys' birthday: DR home post-hurricane recovery

Hi, thanks so much for taking some time to consider a donation to support recovery work that needs to happen for Gladys' home in the Dominican Republic. This home has been a dream that Gladys has put together piece by piece over many years, a model of what it can look like to live in a sustainable way with the earth and community - growing food, sustaining itself with renewable energy, and providing a space of refuge for many people.

If you are like me, you have been inspired by Gladys and have felt her incredible generosity in being there for friends, family, the community, and the earth. In my case, she is a sister, a comrade, una maestra, a very special Titi to my little one, una abeja de amor. Now we have a chance to let her know how much she means to us, and to show her that she is not alone.

In late September, the area of Gladys' home in the DR was hit by Hurricane Fiona. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but there was extensive damage to the house and to many of the trees that Gladys had planted on her land, many of them over a decade ago. Like much of the impacted community, Gladys is working to repair much of the damage - identifying resources to replant trees and more. She needs to raise $7,500 to replace the solar panels that were blown off of the house, and to repair water systems for the house.
