Kyle's Kirov Ballet Invitation
Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends, and all who love Ballet,
Kyle James has been taking ballet since he was 10 years old and over the last two years he has become very passionate about his art and training.
This invitation and gofundme account is a chance for Kyle to attend the Kirov Academy in Washington, DC this summer. This is an amazing opportunity for growth for this authentic spirited young man. He was accepted and this costly experience will only be possible with sponsorship from those who wish to help him achieve this goal. We are doing what we can, but this opportunity has come about quickly and it is not possible without financial assistance. Kirov Academy Summer Intensive

Kyle’s statement about his love of Ballet:
“Last year I joined a pre-professional program and train over 20 hours per week, in addition to rehearsals for Nutcracker and Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP). I am dedicated to the art of ballet, and have viewed it as a critical part of my development and discipline as a person.”
"This year, for the first time, I competed at YAGP where I met other aspiring male ballet dancers, adding to my positive experience with the art of ballet."

“I have high expectations for myself not only in dance, but in academics as well. I work very hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA, and enjoy my honors math, science, and English classes. My aspirations are to become a professional ballet dancer and an author. I feel very fortunate to have this combination of academics and art in my life and believe that this unique opportunity to attend the Kirov Academy of Ballet, in Washington, D.C., will prepare me for my future goals.”
More about Kyle, in his own words:

“As an individual with Asperger’s Syndrome, ballet has helped me to express myself by giving me awareness of what other people might expect in many different occasions. Ballet also helps me to determine whether the source of problems, typically with relationships with others, lies within myself or within communication with others. It also provides access to a subtler range of thought within. In a sense, ballet helps me to read my own emotions, visualize things, and properly differentiate between different elements of my life.
Because ballet usually has a story to tell, I feel by replicating these elements that appear throughout daily life, often hard to detect, they are familiar and solvable. All the while through the philosophies of ballet the movement is connected to the music, which is intrinsically connected to my sense of truth. In addition, ballet has many layers of interaction with a community of artists collaborating to create a performance piece.”
“I enjoy the partnering and ensemble opportunities in ballet as it teaches me how to work together with other people in a team. By learning about many different personalities, I am able to maintain a steady state of being even in stressful situations and learn that every person can have a place in a performance while being respectful.”
“I am excited to have the chance to attend the Kirov Academy, where I will meet other people with similar interests as me. At this stage in my development as an emerging artist, ballet resides in my current and future goals, and I believe the Kirov will be a catalyst in rising to the next stage in my development, and succeeding the expectations I set for myself.”

Why dedicate so much to ballet training and this 5-week program specifically?
Last year Kyle wrote this about his 2-week experience with a similar program of study:
"To start, last year the Pro Dance experience was liberating. I did not realize how much I loved dance until I went last year. From then on, the inspiring experience led me to take dance six to seven days a week with three to four classes a day. I am excited for the push the master teachers will give me this year, and glad to know the teachers are the best in their field. As a person I may be made of many parts and interests, but this past year, dance has been swelling inside me. The intense experience of the stage is something I am excited to experience with Brooksher Ballet Pro-Dance this summer. I wish to accomplish giving it my all, one hundred percent of the time, and learning to move my body in different ways, unlocking new modifications in the art of dance."
~Kyle James Gailey, 2015, One year after his first summer ballet intensive.
The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and its unique training method have created the world’s most famous dancers including (not limited to) Rudolf Nureyev, Natalia Makarova, and Mikhail Baryshnikov- who happens to be Kyle’s favorite male dancer.

More about the Kirov Academy Summer Intensive:
Cost to attend will be roughly $8,000 for Kyle including: tuition, room and board, food, gear required, student educational outings, and travel from AZ to DC.
Kirov Academy’s Summer Intensive is designed for the serious ballet student, ages 10 – 19, and is the gateway to acceptance in Year-Round Program. The dates for 2016 are June 26th through July 30th. The cost for attendance with travel will be $8,000. Kyle will receive intensive study in classical ballet with our world-renowned Russian faculty. Class offerings will include: classical technique, pointe and variations, Horton modern/contemporary, men’s technique, partnering, and character. Non-dance courses may include: music theory, drama, health and wellness lectures, ballet history, and Russian language. All dancers will have the opportunity to participate in professional photo shoots. Kyle will leave this comprehensive Summer Intensive with a developed understanding of the deepest technique of classical ballet and new confidence of how to approach the rest of his pre-professional training.
If you would be interested in making any amount of a donation, we would be truly grateful. Kyle will also be working on other fundraising campaigns in our area (selling chocolate, smoothies, etc) to help raise money as he has a strong desire to attend the program.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Much love,
Lisa & Joel
