On September 21 Emilee Miller (Kelley and Stacey Miller) had an ENT appointment due to her experiencing a slight hearing loss. ENT recommended an MRI to check for any abnormalities. On September 25 Emilee had her first MRI and on September 27 it was identified that Emilee had a tumor greater than 2.5 cm that started in her auditory canal and was pressing on her brain stem to the left. While her family were assured it isn’t cancer, due to the size, radiation and a complete removal are not an option.
A week later Emilee had a second MRI that indicated the tumor is actually 3.5 cm. It has been decided they are going to have the rest of Emilee’s care done at Mayo Hospital. On Friday, October 12, they will have their first appointment with a neurosurgeon and an otorhinolaryngologists. This appointment will confirm the plan for surgery. Emilee and her family do know that the tumor and surgery may lead to loss of hearing, balance, facial muscles, swallowing, and blinking.
