Hi everyone! My name is Hannah Benavides, and I am a Junior Radio, Television, and Film Student from the University of Texas at Austin. This year I decided to write and direct a film titled, "6 Minutes and 45 Seconds" that deals with the heavy subject matters such as trauma and gun violence. I promised myself that I would write and treat this project with care and respect because my ultimate goal is to give audiences, that may not understand the impact of gun violence, a point of view from two high school characters.
Along with making this film to raise awareness, I also want to give back to the Sandy Hook Foundation as much as I can and I hope you all can help accomplishment this goal too!
Sandy Hook Promise Foundation
Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) envisions a future where all children are free from school shootings and other acts of violence. As a national nonprofit organization, SHP’s mission is to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. Creators of the life-saving, evidence-informed Know the Signs prevention programs, SHP teaches the warning signs of someone who may be in crisis, socially isolated, or at-risk of hurting themselves or others and how to get help. SHP also advances school safety, youth mental health, and responsible gun ownership at the state and federal levels through nonpartisan policy and partnerships.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Even just a few dollars can help move this mission forward and reach those who need it most.
If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means the world to not only me and my film crew, but to all the children of America and their futures.
