Help Tina Dahlstrom Urgent Medical & Family needs

Hi, my name is Tammy Thompson. This gofundme is for my sister Christina (Tina) Dahlstrom and her daughters Hannah and Adeline (Addie). Addie lives with her mom full time, and Hannah is working her butt off at St. Mary’s college in Winona and comes home on weekends, holidays and the summer.

I’m not really sure where to begin, but here we go.

A week after our mom died in 2018 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, Tina was diagnosed with the same thing. They are now calling it Familial Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis since our close cousin also has it. From 2018-2021, the disease was progressing slowly so Tina was able to work, but the disease has been moving very quickly this year, and she has not been able to work. Her youngest daughter Addie has been taking great care of her while she was at home, but Tina is now in the hospital in Madison on high levels (40%!!) of oxygen 24/7. They are now rushing to do all of the needed testings to see if she qualifies to go on the waitlist for a double lung transplant. We hope they get everything done by Wednesday, 10/12– The transplant team meets to go over cases every Wednesday. They told her yesterday she is running out of time, so we are all praying this can be figured out this week.

One would think that situation should be enough for them to deal with, right? But, of course, it’s not. Tina and her girls have also been displaced from their home because of a high level of mold in their house. Tina can NEVER go back there unless it is fixed. We are not sure yet if it is even fixable. I am doing what I can, but I am hoping and praying others can help also. We will all be spending A LOT of time in Madison in the next few months. As you can imagine, the costs keep rising, and as the saying goes, the struggle is real. TOO real. If you or anyone you know can help by donating money for them to use for hospital bills, hotel rooms, food, gas etc., we would all be very grateful. If she is accepted to go on the transplant waitlist, she would be in the hospital approximately 3-4 weeks and then she needs to stay another four weeks minimum in a hotel or apartment in Madison when she is ok'd to leave the hospital. Addie and I will be living with her and caring for her 24/7.
