My name is Jana Wood and I have been through a rough few years. In the past five years, I buried my firstborn son, my sister and best friend, and my mom. Three weeks after my mom died, I lost my job. I have struggled to replace it, and the jobs I found were temporary contracts that barely covered living expenses. In July 2015, I found a fulltime job at a local university. But I have been plaqued with terrible abdominal pain for at least a year, and without insurance, I struggled to find money for tests to find an answer. I got my answer last week when an ultrasound revealed serious problems with my gall bladder. I was scheduled for surgery on Saturday, February 13. The surgeon found the worst case he said he had ever seen. I had gangrene, and he said not only had my gall bladder been dead for three weeks, it was unlikely I would survive two more weeks without surgery. While I am grateful to be alive and on the road to recovery, I am also without income once again. I am hoping that FMLA will save my job the four-six weeks they say I need to recover, but I won't have any pay for that time. I am asking for help. My friends and family have already devoted countless resources helping me survive this far. I am fighting as hard as I can to get my life back on track. Things have happened that were monumental and difficult and beyond my control. I wish I didn't need help. I am used to being the helper. If there is any way you can help me with basic living expenses and some unexpected medical expenses, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your consideration.
