Pepper is a 5-week-old kitten who was rescued from within Bushwick’s Newtown Creek Superfund site, where toxic chemicals have seeped into the soil, harming humans and wildlife.
Pepper was born with an extremely rare deformity called atresia ani, which means she has no butthole. How does she poop? Her body has an abnormal passage, which has allowed her to survive until this point. As she grows, the passage is rapidly closing. Without urgent surgery to correct her deformity, she won’t survive.
Despite spending most of her short life in pain and discomfort, Pepper is the sweetest, most affectionate kitten, capable of melting any heart in mere minutes.
With surgery, Pepper has the chance to be adopted by a loving forever family and live a completely normal, happy life—something she more than deserves after the rough start she’s had.
We’re raising funds to cover the cost of Pepper’s life-saving surgery and follow-up care. Every little bit helps, and any support means the world.
Please help us give Pepper the future she deserves.
