I’m raising money for our dear friend’s dog, Toby. Toby’s owners are Samantha and Dylan. They are like family and have had a terrifying and expensive few days. Samantha and Dylan are BOTH the most selfless, humble, dependable, loving and giving people I’ve ever met. They deserve the world.
In a nutshell: Toby stopped eating, started throwing up, and had bloody stools. They took him to the emergency vet and did emergency surgery after x-rays showed a blockage. No foreign body was found, but they did remove 3L of bloody fluid and 1 inflamed lymph node. They’ve had to pump his stomach to remove green chunky fluid. We’re a few days in and Toby is still at the vet on IV’s and observations. He finally ate and kept it down a few hours ago so we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Samantha said he greeted them with a wagging tail, kisses and his big signature smile. They’re not sure what the cause is or what his recovery looks like but no one is giving up. We would do anything for those we love, right?
Toby is young, strong and he’s a fighter. If you’ve ever met him, he’s probably given you a big kiss across your face. He’s the sweetest gentle giant and he deserves all the love and treatment Samantha and Dylan are giving him.
Please help us make sure he continues to have a fighting chance. Anything helps.
UPDATE!!! From Dylan and Samantha:
“First and foremost, thank you all for your generosity. This horrible unfolding of events has taught us many lessons in dog physiology, handling emergencies, and most importantly gratitude.
We are floored with the amount of love we have been receiving both in loving words and your hard earned money. We are grateful that God has put you all in our life and filled your heart with love to help one of his most beautiful creations bring more joy to his parents and friends
I’m not done saying “thank you” yet, but I am sure you are thinking “we get it, we’re awesome! HOW’S TOBY?!”
Toby is finally home after 2 long days in the hospital. He is working hard on recovery. We picked him up at lunch on 9/12 and he has been resting. Our biggest step forward has been getting him to eat some chicken and take his medicine. He did both flawlessly and is now sleeping on his favorite blanket.
He is really tired but his old, lovable self is starting to shine through more and more.
We have 3 weeks until he is fully recovered but baby steps are being taken in the right direction!
We will share updates and pictures soon. We love you all and are thankful to have you on this journey with us!”
