Journey For A New Heart
Donation protected
Hi my name is Karen. I’m fundraising for my daughter Kierra Hodge.I am reaching out to people with hope and a need to be filled for my daughter Kierra Hodge. Kierra is a 28 year single mother who has been diagnosed with multiple illnesses. She became very sick at the age of 15 with Kidney Disease. Since then, her condition has rapidly deteriorated to now she is in Stage 4 Kidney failure. Kierra’s body has been breaking down ever since that first diagnosis. In November 2018 she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. After that she took a turn for the worse and her heart stopped working efficiently, only operating at 10-15%. She’s constantly in and out of the hospital. She had to have an L.V.A.D (blood pumping machine) put in place because her heart can’t do its job anymore. She has been added on the transplant list to receive a new heart and kidney. Her doctors have told us Kierra will die w/o this transplant. The LVAD and dialysis will only sustain her life temporarily. I don’t want to lose my baby. My daughter is a fighter and the only way to continue this fight is a heart and kidney transplant.
By the Grace of God we have been blessed with the news she is next in line to receive a heart and a kidney transplant!! I have been helping her take care of my granddaughter Kaydence because she is unable to do it alone. I’m doing this go fund me because I am the only source of income for all three of us. Kierra and I will have to travel to Columbus, Ohio over an hour away several times a week for doctor’s visits, testing and preparation for the transplant. Once the hospital calls with the donor organs, we will have two hours to get to Columbus to receive the transplant. After the surgery she will be in the hospital for two weeks. I will be staying in a hotel nearby to help with her care. Once discharged from the hospital she will stay in Columbus an additional minimum of two months. I will have to pay for lodging for those two months while she is in recovery. I will be driving to Columbus multiple times a week until I can bring her home. I am willing to do whatever it takes for my baby to have a chance to raise her daughter and continue being a phenomenal mother. Please be a blessing to our family and donate whatever you can to help with the expenses of travel, lodging, maintaining bills, providing for her daughter once the transplant has taken place. Kierra’s healing process will be long. I will be her caregiver after the transplant. I will not be able to work full time to provide for us any amount would be greatly appreciated.
