The C. K. McClatchy Speech and Debate Team has a legacy of success despite a distinct lack of institutional support. This year, we qualified two teams to the Tournament of Champions in Lexington, Kentucky, meaning that we were two of the top 72 teams (of thousands!) in the country.
That being said, the lack of institutional support has become especially clear in making our accomodations for the tournament. Because each student has to independently book and pay for flights and hotel rooms, we are rather low on funds for bringing our required judges and coaches to the tournament as well. That's why we're requesting help from you -- the people! -- to aid us in our goal of attending the prestigious Tournament of Champions.
As if you didn't have incentive enough, contributors of $10 will receive a signed photo of debater Nathan Fleming, and a gift of $20 will receive a signed photo of Tony Hackett and hugs a'plenty. $30 will receive all of the above, and a signed photo of Stephen E. Goldberg (with a lipstick stain).
