Jägermeister's surgery (My Dog)

Got home from work yesterday, Thursday 10-30-14 and found my 8+ year old pitbull "Jäger" in his crate.  He is not crated and roams the house freely while I'm at work.  He seemd to be in a lot of pain and I had to help him get out of the crate.  We walked around the back yard a little and I noticed him shaking and his abdomen constricting with almost every breath.

We went to the after hours emergency hospital in South Austin where he stayed the night last night to the tune of a little over $1100.  I took him to his normal vet this morning  since x-Ray and biopsy results from last night did not yield any specific causes of his pain.  My vet did an ultra sound which showed that his cecum (equivalent to a pancreas) was enlarged and needs to be removed.  The ultra sound was another $345 not including everything else my vet has done today while I'm at work.
 
Jager goes to a special animal hospital this evening for the surgery which is between $2000-$3000 and he will be at there facility over night.  I'm single with no kids and this is the 1st dog I have ever owned outside of the dogs my parents had when I was growing up.  Just when I was climbing out of credit card debt this happens so all my costs so far on a credit card.
