Hello. My name is Gail Moen. Tragically, I lost my oldest little girl Saturday, July 12th, 2025, to a fatal gunshot wound. Words can't describe my feelings, but what I do know is I'd like to create a few things that my daughter, Gjoa Yvonne Moen, and I had always planned in her beautiful memory.

The funeral services are going to be back home in Winner, but she has so many friends and family in Mitchell. I'd like to plan a small memorial service in Mitchell for those who may not be able to make the trip back home to Winner. I'd like to raise funds for that partially, but also I'm requesting that all family and friends willing to do it could write a favorite memory about Gjoa so that I may have a book made of all these memories.

In addition, since I didn't have insurance, I would most definitely like to raise funds for a headstone as well. My daughter was so artistic, athletic, musical, and beautiful. I feel like she deserves all of this and much more. I am making future plans to make all of her artwork, songs, and writings published as well so the world can enjoy them as she intended.

We planned to put together a book of all our poems called "Piano Lessons" as there is some dark writing as well as light writing, representing the colors of piano keys. I believe there needs to be a foundation or center to help young folks just like her, where all recovering addicts, ex-inmates, and anyone who simply wants a chance in life and needs support. A center that provides rehabilitation, assistance with medical needs, assimilation back into society, potential job opportunities that welcome felons, education, and basically a place to go where there are caring people to be there so these folks won't be so alone. But that will be a different chapter.

For now, I'd just like to put her to rest and try to move on in her memory, which will most definitely never be forgotten. As her mother, I'm going to make sure all of her hard work and beautiful art will be seen and heard by the world. Please help me in making my precious girl remembered for the amazing woman she was and not focus on any negative. Positivity is most definitely contagious, and maybe it will help someone else, which was her ultimate goal.
