Hi, my name is Paget and I’m the owner of a beautiful, lively and fun Boxer dog called Ruby.

The day before this Christmas Eve I woke up to find Ruby’s back right leg was paralysed and she was in immense pain. I took her at 6am straight to the amazing people at the Animal Emergency hospital where she was out in ICU. Next day her back left leg became paralysed. They had her in IV, pain killers & anti-anxiety drugs. We had a CT scan done which showed an injury in her spinal disks. How this happened we don’t know.

The cost so far has been $10k which I’ve had to borrow. If we go to surgery it’s another $10k, an alternative to this is medical home recovery which I’m now doing, carrying outside to the loo 3 times a day and to get fresh air. This will probably take 6-8 weeks to see any return of use to the leg according to the vet surgeon.

I appreciate there are better causes and really sick people in need, I’ve never done a Go Fund before but a few people have suggested it given there may be a few Boxer lovers out there. I need to pay the $10k back (plus potentially be prepared for surgery costs if home care doesn’t work) . I originally put $10k to help pay bavk the loan but GFM then apparently sets it own automated goal and increases that as donations come in. It’s all new to me but I thought I’d add this to explain why the amount has changed.
