Julian's Top Surgery Fund
Donation protected

Hello hello!! My name is Julian and I'm the one in the hat in the picture up there. I'm a transmasc picture book illustrator. On April 16th I am getting ✨ TOP SURGERY ✨ which is deeply exciting and something I have been wishing for maybe longer than I even knew the words for it.
All I want in my life is to be able to wear a lacy button-up shirt down to my navel. I'm making light of it because that's how I roll, but honestly, I am beyond excited for my body to finally feel a little bit more like my own. Yes, I'm excited for open-shirt summers and feeling the waves on my skin, but more than that, I can't wait to be able to move through the world matching the version of me in my own heart.
All the moving parts are working and our insurance is covering the bulk of what is a very expensive surgery, which is incredible. The less incredible part is that our out-of-network costs are quite high, and since I have to travel from our hometown to get this surgery in the city, we're going to be on the hook for quite a bit of money in order to get this done. Our max out-of-pocket costs are $2500, and my surgeon requires us to stay in the city for a full week after the surgery in order to make sure that if something goes wrong, I can easily head back to the clinic and get help. I'm anticipating that meals + lodging for me and my incredible spouse (who will be supporting every step of the way!) will come out to about $500, hence our total goal!
It means the world to me that you're even here looking at this. It's a pretty financially-tight year for the two of us. I'm a working artist, and my spouse was laid off from their job and is working on going back to school. We're just trying to make sure that all our bases are covered and that me getting this surgery doesn't cost more than we can handle.
Anything above and beyond the goal that does not go to surgery costs will be promptly given over to another top surgery fund, so no matter what your money is going to help some transmasc person through a wonderful-but-difficult time and come out the other end with a body that suits them. Thank you so, so much just for reading, seeing this, and being a node of support in a network so massive I can't even comprehend it. You are all a beautiful constellation in the starry web of my life. Thank you!
