Support Theo’s Fight Against Cancer

Story

On May 2nd, I took Theo to his vet for swelling and redness in his eye. He was diagnosed with conjunctivitis and given an eye cream and an antibiotic shot. May 14th, I took him back for lack of improvement. He got a new eye cream to try. May 22nd, he was given a steroid shot. June 2nd, he was sedated for a biopsy showing no cancer, but severe inflammation. He was prescribed oral antibiotics. The doctor believed it was cancer even though it didn’t show and said if the antibiotics did not work it more than likely was and the only thing he could do was refer me to UGA. June 6th, I took him for a second opinion. The opinion was the same and I was told to go ahead and go to UGA. He was examined again there, where they believed it to be cancer and moving fast. However to find out if it is, what kind, where, and treatment options, a CT scan is necessary. I was told this will cost anywhere from $2,500 to $4,500, dependent on if they also needed bloodwork, to do another biopsy, or further testing. Up until today, I have managed to cover his expenses. The bill to be examined today was $361, aside from this I have paid them all to date. (Around $1,200 total) Theo is still eating, drinking, using the bathroom and snuggling. Although I don’t know if there is hope, it doesn’t feel right to part ways without knowing if there’s anything I can do. I do have Care credit, but this is potentially beyond my limit on the card. Theo has saved me in many ways over the last decade. There were times when it felt like it was worth sticking around just for him to sleep on my pillow every night (yes we share a pillow). If I call his name in a mile radius he comes running. He’s my longest friend and unless I do this, I won’t know my options for helping him. I know it could be terrible news, but he is worth knowing and I plan on keeping him comfortable at home and pain free as long as I can. Thank you to everyone that has reached out. He’s a friend to all and loves every one of you that he has met over the years. ❤️
