Underdog Kennels Rescue Project –
A shelter dog is euthanized every 27 seconds.
Let's save some lives...
because EVERYONE deserves a second chance!
We are opening a boarding kennel with a mission of helping to save death row dogs and provide them a safe place to live until we can find them good, loving “furever” homes.
We will rescue dogs from high kill shelters, whose time has run out, and bring them to our kennel until they are readopted.
There will be no time limits placed on any of these dogs.
We will provide them with any medical care they need: this could include vaccinations, along with spaying or neutering (so we don’t keep adding to the over-population problem) and micro-chipping, so if they ever get lost in the future, they can be reunited with their new found families. More serious medical services and rehabilitation will also be provided as needed.
In addition, we’ll provide general training as well as socialization to those that need it, so they can build confidence and gain the social skills that will enable them to become more adoptable.
No dog will sit in a kennel all day just waiting to be adopted. There will be multiple play yards and the dogs will be divided by size, temperament and age to assure safety.
All of these steps will help ensure the adopting families will receive a healthy, well socialized new member to their family.
Our goals are ambitious: Save over 300 dogs annually! Successful operation of our first kennel will allow us to open more facilities across the country and grow that number exponentially – 10 kennels x 300 dogs = 3,000 lives saved per year!
We have located a 1940’s warehouse that is in an excellent location for us. It is 7,500 square feet with an additional 22,500 square feet of exterior rehab / training / play area, but we need to bring it up to 2014 code, so it’s a safe place to house our furry friends!
The entire roof and all structural supports have been replaced.
Decades of old paint and graffiti has been removed.
New windows are being installed.
What We Need: The building still needs heating & cooling, electrical, plumbing and we’re hoping to get Mason Sani–kennels, which prevent deadly cross-contamination of diseases among the dogs. That is very important to stop the spread of an outbreak like parvo, canine distemper virus or canine cough.
We need to raise $97,000 to complete it.
