Giving Tuesday A2MEND Fundraiser
Donation protected
Today, people around the world will come together to celebrate generosity and make an impact. At A²MEND, we have a goal to raise scholarship funds to support the success and education of our A²MEND mentees. Learn more about a few of our mentees:
Spencer Prescod, Mentee
This organization has impacted my life and has given me a brotherhood and family. It is amazing to learn from educated academic black men that take time out to be an example of excellence. They show us how to grow and break the statistic of uneducated black men. I am truly inspired!
I am majoring in Liberal Studies specifically Child Education and Specializing in Special Education and Art with a Minor in Africana Studies. I look to inspire and help children and people with disabilities and difficulties, breaking the stigmas that exist.
Golden Hicks, Mentee
Aside from being a mentee, I work with homeless youth programs in my community, as well as volunteer with Real Men Read, a program where we go to the local elementary schools and read to fatherless young boys to help them better their skills and serve as mentors.
Being an A²MEND mentee has allowed me to see black men reach high positions and it has motivated me to keep fighting to achieve greater things in my life. I can and I will!
Dre Leggette
This mentorship experience has provided me a much needed support system. Speaking as a high school drop out and GED Holder, the K-12 system arguably failed me, and allowed me to fall through the cracks. However, my experience with A2MEND has helped me deal with the traumas I’ve endured with the school system, and has allowed me to seek to be more productive rather than destructive.
I would like to go into higher education for my career to pay it forward for future generations of students. A scholarship would assist me in finishing up my degree, and also lower the stress of financing my degree by offsetting loans and help with the costs that my financial aid package may not cover.
