I am very late on this news but yesterday I just found out some news about our national treasure, Charity Estes.
Charity has been at Copestone for many, many years. She started as a tech before becoming a nurse and there’s no other way to describe her other than perfect. She works hard, supports her team, and treats everyone from housekeeping to management with extraordinary kindness and respect. She is great with the patients and provides excellent care. Most of all, she’s just a great person. You will hear staff use phrases such as, “charity is such an angel” or “protect charity at all costs”. She never complains, and never has a bad attitude. Everyone has good things to say about her and adores her. She is someone that you get excited to work with. A few years ago, Charity graduated nursing school. She was the best tech and then became the best nurse. She is the gold standard for what a nurse should be. She will never leave anyone behind or let anyone she is working with feel unsupported. She helps fellow nurses, and she helps her fellow techs. She stays on the floor with the techs all night, even charting in the hallway with them! If she sees the techs are drowning, she takes over tech tasks without saying a word or being asked. She’s always there, for everyone. Late last night, I was told Charity has been very sick the last month. She was sick with covid but it’s been brutal. She was intubated/ventilated at least four times, she had to relearn how to swallow and talk, she went from walker to cane, back to using her legs, and the additional diagnoses of pneumonia, and sepsis were added along the way. These costs will be outrageous. I’m asking everyone to please, please share this. If you’re able to even donate a dollar, please do. Charity does not know I am making this. Let’s help out one of the best people Mission ever gave us.
