Giving Joy

To honor my mom, I've decided to start a charity in her name, Giving Joy. We want to help hardworking families who are fighting to make ends meet. 43% of U.S. families do not have the means to cover an unexpected bill of $400. So when the family car breaks down or the hot water heater gives out, their world turns upside down trying to figure out where the money will come from. Giving Joy will give those families the assist they need to keep going. Some people are too proud to take help from others. So that no one feels like this is a handout, those families will pay it forward by volunteering at a local charity. Their time will be valued at $25 per hour. So a family who receives $500, will give 20 hours to a local charity. The family gets the help they need, the pride of paying it back and a local charity gets much needed support. So every dollar raised will actually help twice.

I’m working on the 501c3 paperwork, so we can apply for donations from large corporations and foundations, but that takes a little while.
