Hi guys,
I’m Jade, Ian’s daughter. As I’m sure many of you have heard by now that my Dad sadly passed away on the 13th of December of a stroke. I spoke to him the night it happened (Tuesday 6th)and myself and Jordan (my brother) said we would get down early the following day after him having some tests done. He was speaking ok (he even said the nurse was gorgeous lol) and we were led to believe it wasn’t life threatening.
However over night the bleed got much much worse and doctors calling me to ask whether to operate but it would have left him severely disabled. A phone call no child should have to receive. However before a decision was made my dad became unresponsive and they decided that the operation was too invasive and would have done too much damage and probably leave him bed ridden which I know he would hate.
So me and my brother rushed to St George’s absolutely distraught and in disbelief to be with him in his final moments. They said he probably wouldn’t last night……. 6days and nights later he finally passed as peaceful as could be. It was an extremely tough 6 days, we didn’t leave the hospital grounds, only to pop to the shop for clean clothes and toiletries as we brought nothing with us. Just living in this hospital bubble waiting for the inevitable to happen whilst getting moved around a ward in and out of private rooms with minimal sleep and running in empty was hard but we had to be there for him ❤️❤️
Throughout those days he had some family and friends come and say their goodbyes, but myself and Jordan were with him when he passed.
As this has been such a shock and so sudden as he was only 59 there is no plan or financials left in play for us to organise a funeral and send off for him. I’m in between jobs and my brother has just had Ian’s very first grandchild that’s only 8 weeks old so things are a little tricky, so we are asking for anyone that knew and loved my dad for a contribution rather than flowers to give him the send off he deserves and relieve the pressure a bit for myself and my brother so we can grieve properly.
The target we have put is just for the whole thing, so any help we can get towards that figure would be an almighty help for us both.
thank you for reading this, and for those that have messaged and posted on FB ect thank you so much! It means so much to us to see how loved and liked he was by so many!!
