Hi! My name is Olivia/ Oli and I am raising funds to help an amazing young woman called (aptly) Hope. She is in Nigeria and trying to pursue her dream of becoming a qualified nurse.

Hope needs a leg up to help her achieve this commendable goal in order to be in a position to give back and I don't have enough to fund her outright though I will of course be donating.

If 100 people give $5-$10 (c. £4-£8) she'd reach her initial basic first semester tuition target. If 1000 people did the same or if just 200 people contributed $50 she would have her whole course and bills covered. So any amount you contribute counts. Hope wants to start working and giving back but she needs a hand to get to the start line.

More about Hope: Hope is 25 years old, hardworking and has the biggest smile. I first met her at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Dubai. She had only just arrived in the UAE when the lockdown began, and like many newly arrived workers during C19, she found herself unable to work and without any financial support. Our paths crossed when she was understandably struggling to afford groceries, and I helped her a little during that period. Since then, we have stayed in touch and I’ve seen her determination, resilience and commitment to building a better life for herself and those around her.

Her goal has always been the same: to become a nurse so she can support her family and contribute to the health and wellbeing of her community. She wants to work where she is most needed, whether in local clinics, regional hospitals or community health outreach programmes. What she lacks is only the financial means to pay for her tuition and associated costs.

What This Fund Will Support

The funds raised will go towards:

GoFundMe does not permit fundraising campaigns to be withdrawn directly into Nigeria, so I will personally receive the funds and either pay her tuition fees directly to the college or transfer funds to her in line with GoFundMe’s rules and in full transparency. Happy to offer whatever proof you might need as appreciate this is less than ideal. For her point of view, Hope is happy for the funds to go directly to the college so as to negate any mistrust about what she might do with the funds..

Why This Matters

The world faces an ongoing shortage of trained healthcare workers, especially nurses. Investing in the education of one dedicated student can have a direct and lasting impact on the wellbeing of entire communities. Hope is committed to working where she is needed most. She is not seeking a way out; she is seeking a way to serve.
